About Ringo
Ringo is the easiest way to share photos and videos with your friends. You add photos, video, and any other info you want to share. They do the same. You both stay in touch. It's simple and free.
Yes, Ringo is a free service. We have no plans to charge our users. We pay for the costs of operating the service by putting ads on some parts of the site.
You must be 13 years old to use Ringo. If you are over 13 years old and entered your birth date incorrectly, you can go back to the site and restart the registration process. You may need to clear your browser's history and cache, then open a new browser window and enter your correct birth date. Once this has been completed, you should have no problem becoming a Ringo member.
Upload some cool photos and videos and remember to make your profile public by checking the public profile setting in your account settings. Oh, and you need to have a nice profile photo too.
We continuously select popular Ringo members with lots of public photos to be featured on the site and in our emails. To give yourself a good shot at being selected, make sure to upload a lot of photos and make them public, and also give yourself a nice profile photo.
We're eager for your feedback and ideas! Please contact us.

Uploading photos to your Ringo account is easy with a web enabled camera phone.
The first step is to register and confirm your phone on the mobile phone upload page.
After you have registered your phone send a text message with your photo to

No. Ringo supports photo uploads only. In the future we hope to add new mobile features, (like viewing your account and photos on Ringo.com) so check back soon.
Sometimes text messages can be delayed, so be sure to wait at least five minutes to receive your confirmation code. If you still haven't received it, you can try re-registering your number on the mobile upload page. If you still don't receive the code, contact customer service.
If you have received a text message confirmation code, enter it in the appropriate box at: www.ringo.com/mobile/upload. If you haven't received a confirmation code, you can request one by re-registering your phone number on the mobile upload page.
There could be several reasons why your photos are not appearing but most likely it is because your phone number is not registered and confirmed to your Ringo account. To register your phone number, visit the mobile upload page.
If you've already registered and confirmed your phone check to make sure your multimedia text message was sent successfully. Try texting a photo to your personal email address and checking to see if you receive it. If you don't receive your message, then most likely the problem is with your phone sending multimedia text messages and we recommend contacting your phone carrier for additional assistance. If the message does show up please contact us for additional assistance.
To send a text message to an email address you must first have a mobile phone and service provider that offers this capability. Depending on the mobile phone you have, methods to send vary, but in many cases there will be a choice similar to: [Send to new Email Address] available when you are choosing recipients for a text message. Select this and enter
.
If you are not certain your phone supports text messaging to an email address or how to send a text message, we suggest consulting your phone's user guide or contacting your service provider.
Unfortunately, the only way to upload photos using your mobile phone is to send a text message to our email address. If your phone does not have that capability then you will not be able to use this feature in Ringo. But don't worry; you can still upload photos to your account by visiting: http://www.ringo.com/photos/upload.html.
We do not send text message confirmations when you upload photos. The only way to know if your photos were uploaded successfully is to log in to your Ringo account using your computer's web browser. We think we've got things working pretty well, but if you experience a problem, let us know!
Ringo does not charge to upload photos; however, depending on the mobile service plan you have, you could be charged by your phone service provider to text message photos. If you are uncertain if your phone provider will charge you to text message photos, we suggest checking with them first.
No. Upload as many photos as you like. However, depending on your mobile service plan you could be charged by your phone service provider to text message photos. If you are uncertain if your phone provider will charge you to text message photos, we suggest checking with them first.
No. Ringo will not rent or sell your phone number. The phone number you register to your account on the mobile upload page is only used to register your phone to your Ringo account. In fact, the only text message we'll send you is your confirmation code which is required to confirm your phone registration. For more information on our privacy policy, click here.

Communicating on Ringo
Messages are a way for Ringo members to contact each other. You and your friends can exchange messages through Ringo just like emails. You can also send messages to other Ringo members.
A bulletin is like a message to all your friends. They'll see it in their updates and it'll show up on your profile page.
Just go to any photo or video on Ringo and type your message in the box below the photo, where it says "Add your comment". This feature may not always be available, since members can change their account settings to disallow comment on their photos and videos.
To send a message to a friend, go to your profile page (click "You" at the top of the page) and click "Messages". Then click "Send a message".
You can send a message to any of your friends and anyone else who has allowed it via their account settings. To send a message to a Ringo member, go to their profile page and click the send message link.
Any of your friends can send you a message. Also, other members can send you a message if you let them. You can change this setting on your account settings page under "Privacy settings".
Messages will be kept indefinitely. We may start archiving them out of your inbox at some point, though.
You can send anyone an e-card using one of your Ringo photos. Just go to the photo and click the link to send the photo as an e-card.
Ringo tools
The Uploader lets you browse for and upload files from your computer or from your digital camera.
The Screensaver runs when your computer is idle, showing photos from your Ringo albums and those of your friends.
The Ringo Sideshow plays your photos and your friend's photos in a framed slideshow on your PC desktop. It also lets you upload photos to your account simply by dragging them onto the frame.
You can install one or more of the tools here: http://www.ringo.com/tools.html
All the Ringo downloadable tools are free! We don't bundle spyware or other programs with our products, and you can uninstall them easily at any time.
Ringo's downloadable tools (Uploader, Screensaver and Sideshow) communicate with Ringo's servers by HTTP and by direct TCP connection. If you have network security software or hardware (such as a firewall), you may need to configure it to allow Ringo's tools to communicate correctly.
To allow Ringo to talk through a firewall, you will need to whitelist C:\Program Files\Ringo\Hub.exe. It communicates over TCP ports 80 (HTTP), 7263, and 7264 with ringoclient.tickle.com, and over TCP port 80 with upload.ringo.com.
If you use a web proxy, you will need to open up Ringo's Options dialog, and enter your proxy settings into the Network group's Proxy Settings section. You can get to your Ringo Options via Start Menu -> Programs -> Ringo -> Ringo Companion Options.
You can uninstall at any time via the link at Start Menu -> Programs -> Ringo -> Uninstall Ringo Companion. You can also uninstall using the Windows Add/Remove Programs control panel application. Please note that this will remove ALL the tools you have installed.
You can download a new installer here: http://www.ringo.com/tools.html
You can turn off the Ringo Screensaver from the Ringo Options dialog, or from the Windows Display Options dialog. To turn it off from the Ringo Options dialog, go to Start Menu -> Programs -> Ringo -> Ringo Companion Options, select the Screensaver tab on the left, then uncheck "Use my photos as my screensaver".
Yes, you can select which friends are shown in the options. You can also use the "Don't show this photo" option to suppress certain photos.
When you install the photo uploader or the screensaver, you get both. Both tools can be enabled or disabled, but they'll always be available.
This is not recommended, for a number of reasons. If the Sideshow or Screensaver isn't running, it can't get new photos to display. Also, Ringo tools are continually being improved and those updates are sent to you automatically. If you stop the Ringo tools from running you won't get these automatic updates and your tools may stop working correctly.
Yes. You can post individual photos or slideshows of multiple photos. To post a single photo to MySpace, go to the photo and click "Put this photo on MySpace"
You can also post a slideshow of a set of photos by going to your profile page, then clicking "View all" near "Recent Photos and Videos". Then choose "Modify a set of photos and videos", select the photos, and click "Put photos on MySpace".
